Throughout the world, Spain is famous for its history and culture. The Spanish fiestas are very famous, where folklore is brought alive by visitors and residents alike. Many people that have holidayed during times when the large fiestas are happening claim that it was one of the most enjoyable times of their life….. Some of the best guitar playing and dancing can be found in the southern regions of Spain, in particular Andalucia, along with the very famous musical tradition of flamenco. A whole week in April is dedicated to the Fzeria de Abril, based in Seville. It consists of singing and dancing and is a great way to try the fantastic sherry wine and of course, the delicious “Tapas” snacks. Seville’s other famous event is called The Semana Santa (Easter Week) which includes a world famous procession. Take a pilgrimage to El Rocio, along with thousands of people that take part each year. El Rocio is a small village in Huelva and the fiesta takes place in May. Wine and Flamenco are important parts of this fiesta. In March, Valencia is home to another superb fiesta. Las Fallas de San Jose transforms the city into a huge party with fireworks and fantastic foods. Fiestas happen all over Spain, they are usually extremely vibrant affairs, consisting of music, dancing, fireworks and carnivals. If you have not yet visited one, you are in for a truly magical experience.
