Pet Passport or International Vaccination Health Certificate is necessary if you want to bring your pet to Spain. It must show that they can enter Spain without quarantine. These documents will explain that your pet has been inoculated and is free from diseases listed by the Spanish Authorities. When entering Spain, the owner or representative must accompany the pet in question and written certification must be present that the pet has been under the care of the owner for at least 3 months. If you wish to enter Spain under the Pet Travel Scheme you require an Export Certificate which is issued by the MAFF. You will also need a Good Health Certificate that needs to be issued by a vet within 5 days of your departure. You will not be able to travel with your pet if is an endangered species. Spain has signed the international agreements for the protection of endangered species. As a final note, it may be worth having to hand, the phone number of your local vet in the area you are moving to. |
